In the story of Twilight (United States, 2008), which debuts this Friday in our country, there is not a trace of irony. Love is really love, as is surrender. And that may be the key to the success of both the American series written by Stephenie Meyer, which already in its fourth book, as it is in this adaptation of its first episode: Return a generation of students to a kind of romanticism that seemed to have been discarded — the kind which believes in genuine feelings, and that preaches not only waiting for the right person, but for the right time.

    Review:

Games and Activities for LDS Girls by Jenna Mitchell and Illustrated by Rebecca Miller is one book that can be judged by its cover. With bright funky colors and cute pictures, this is a book whose packaging definitely sells. Moms and daughters alike will pick the book up because of its fun look. If they take the time to really look inside, they will continue holding it because of the content.

  • Review of Echos from Eternity

It is about Near Death Experiences, NDEs. I do believe in them, I think they happen, but analysing them seems a bit self-fulfilling.
    …
It was interesting, there are some very cool stories in it. Of course a lot of times these stories feel like either something that should be told around the campfire or are so personal maybe they shouldn’t be in an open format at all. I know if I had this kind of experience I wouldn’t put it out where anyone could see it, pearls before swine and all that.

  • “Christian” Review of Massacre at Mountain Meadows

    Uncategorized 03.12.2008 No Comments

    Review:

The book appeared after many hopes and great expectations, and many years of delay, so that as I began reading through its slim 231 pages of actual narrative, bristling with detail of only peripheral importance to the story, the old adage sprung uninvited to my mind: “The mountain hath labored and then brought forth a mouse.”

    Comment:
This review focuses more on claims about how the historians involved can’t be honest and objective (while failing to give any evidence to support those claims). If these claims are true, you can’t tell from the review.

‘Massacre at Mountain Meadows’ now on 5th printing, with more expected

Anxious booksellers were calling Oxford University Press every other day asking when they could get more copies of the book “Massacre at Mountain Meadows.”

“Where are our books? Where are our books? We need books now!” the anxious sellers have been asking the press. “We couldn’t print them fast enough,” said Susan Fensten, a publicist for Oxford University Press.
